How did I discover the Indonesian dance maestro, Didik Nini Thowok?

By good fortune, I was invited to a Javanese wedding where the niece of my sister-in-law, Nies, got married in sumputous style. Surrounded by fabulous flowers, rich fabrics, and bling, I felt like an an ‘extra’ in an exotic production of Midsummer Night’s Dream. The bride made a stunning Faerie Queen. Procrastination follows 1st of January resolutions, just so.

Resolutions are what will finally change our bad habits and dissolute ways, for good. We swear we’ll be better, forever … until procrastination sets in ’round about the 23rd of the month.

However, there’s a feeling around these days, of Autumn being the new time for new beginnings. Will this alter our dance with procrastination or the timing when idling kicks in?

Are you planning to change your circumstances
with the hope of building your sense of self-worth?

Build self-worth through self-acceptancePerhaps you are hoping that making external changes will add to your level of self-worth. Maybe you want a better job with a higher salary, or new clothes, or a different neighbourhood, or change in the reflection you see in the mirror. True, your wish change and expansion may be appropriate. And the things you hope will bestow you with added value may have the feel-good factor.

However, to build unshakable belief in your self-worth, work on initiating change from within. Working from ‘inside-out’ means changing how you think about yourself and how you treat yourself. A sense of self-worth that comes from genuine positive regard for yourself gives you a firm foundation on which to build in all areas of your life.
